In this small town you will find a fort that served as protection for the plantations. In the fort you will find a museum full of history and history of the different population groups of Suriname.

Fort Zeelandia

A trip to the fort of Paramaribo is a must. Here you will learn a lot about the history of the country, which of course has a huge influence on the many cultural backgrounds of the Surinamese.

The Koto Museum

Book a trip to the Kotomisi museum in the Prinsessestraat. Here you will learn all about the traditional costumes of Afro-Surinamese women in Suriname. In this museum you will get to know the misi’s (the carriers) and the koto.

City walk

Paramaribo has a beautiful old city with beautiful wooden houses, churches, mosques, temples and synagogues. Although the sun is bright (tip: umbrella) you should definitely go for a ‘walk’ in the city!

Restaurant El Patron

A fairly new restaurant in Flustraat 25A near the Academic Hospital. So very close to Klein-Kronenburg. El Patron is a Latin grill restaurant where you can eat incredibly well. The menu offers a lot of choice. You can go there for a tasty snack, but a delicious tenderloin is also one of the possibilities. Highly recommended!

Restaurant Bibit

At Johannes Mungrastraat you will find restaurant Bibit where you can enjoy the refined Indonesian cuisine inside or outside. Their various dishes are prepared with great care. A few minutes by bike from Klein-Kronenburg you will find this restaurant.

’t Vat

t’ Vat is the most popular café in the entertainment centre of Paramaribo. The large terrace is perfect for a drink, but you can also go here for a delicious meal. Live performances are regularly held here and it can sometimes be super busy and very cosy. Curious? A taxi or bus will take you there in no time.

Las Tias

More colorful than Las Tias you will not find it quickly in Suriname! The fusion kitchen with Latin American influences is one to water your mouth. Just like restaurant Bibit, Las Tias is located on the Johannes Mungrastraat.

Green, greener, greenest!

Peperpot

This nature park is located across the bridge and is about 30 minutes away from Klein Kronenburg! You walk (quietly) on a beautiful path. Pay attention: you can spot multiple species of monkeys and with some luck other animals too!

Bergendal resort

About 1.5 hours drive from Paramaribo, this beautiful resort is located in a green area on the banks of the Suriname River. From the luxury lodges on the river, you can enjoy a beautiful view over the water. From this location, various activities can be undertaken which you can book on site.

Overbridge River Resort

About an hour’s drive from Paramaribo you will find Overbridge on the Suriname River, in the middle of the jungle. At the resort you will find nice camps on the beach and cabanas (2 to 5 persons) where you can spend the night. The swimming area is fenced off with a net, but the resort also has a swimming pool and various sports facilities.

Brownsberg

Put on your walking shoes but bring your water shoes too! You have a breathtaking view over the reservoir on top of the mountain, but if you descend a bit you will encounter waterfalls!
